Wynton Marsalis, acting as the evening's Honorary Chairman, will offer a video-taped message to begin the festivities, with David Skorton, Secretary of the Smithsonian, serving as the Master of Ceremonies. This event will trace America's unique musical art form from 1917 to the late 1930's, offering the opportunity to hear the story of jazz as you've never heard it before.
A unique exhibit of WWI memorabilia from the private collection of Gene Alexander Peters will also be on display in the Lisner Auditorium lobby.
